Channel Setup

Best practices for configuring notification channels.

Choosing the right channel for your game alerts is important for keeping your community organized. This guide covers best practices and common configurations.

Supported Channel Types

#

Text Channels

Standard text channels

Regular text channels work great for alerts. Members can see and discuss notifications.

๐Ÿ“ข

Announcement Channels

Followable channels

Announcement channels allow other servers to follow your alerts. Great for community servers.

Required Bot Permissions

RankBreaker needs these permissions in the channel you select:

  • โœ“
View Channel โ€” Bot needs to see the channel
  • โœ“
Send Messages โ€” Required to post alerts
  • โœ“
Embed Links โ€” Alerts use rich embeds
  • โ—‹
Mention Everyone โ€” Optional, only if using role pings
Warning
If the bot is missing permissions, alerts won't be sent! The setup wizard will warn you if permissions are missing.

Best Practices

๐ŸŽฏ Use Dedicated Channels

Create specific channels like #arise-alerts or #pvb-alerts to keep notifications organized and easy to find.

๐Ÿ”’ Consider Read-Only Channels

Make the channel read-only for regular members (only bot can post). This prevents clutter and keeps alerts visible.

๐Ÿ“‚ Group Related Alerts

Put all Roblox game alerts in a "Game Alerts" category. Use one channel per game or combine them based on your server's activity.

๐Ÿงช Test Before Going Live

Use the "Test Send" feature in setup to preview how alerts will look. This helps catch permission issues early.

Tip
You can use different channels for different alert types. For example, dungeon alerts in one channel and world boss alerts in another!
